"Where did my screenshot go?"
This tool exists because of that exact question. PrtScn and Win+Shift+S only put the image on your clipboard — no file is ever written, so there is nothing to hunt for. Win+PrtScn is meant to save into Pictures\Screenshots, but it quietly fails when that folder has been moved, redirected into OneDrive, or locked down by an office IT policy. Rather than fighting Windows, paste the screenshot here and get a real file in your Downloads folder.
Pasting on Android and iPhone
Long-press an image in Chrome, Instagram, WhatsApp or ChatGPT and tap Copy, then come back here and tap Paste from clipboard. Chrome on Android asks for clipboard permission the first time — tap Allow. Safari on iPhone shows a small Paste confirmation instead. If your browser refuses, use Choose image and pick the picture from your gallery — the result is identical.
Which format should you pick?
PNG for screenshots, text, logos and anything transparent — it is lossless, so nothing gets blurry. JPG for photographs where a small file matters more than perfect pixels; transparent areas turn white. WebP and AVIF are the modern middle ground: much smaller than PNG at similar sharpness, and fine for the web, though older software may not open them. BMP is uncompressed and huge, but ancient software accepts it. ICO is for Windows icons and favicons.
Getting the PDF right
Sharp keeps every pixel exactly as pasted — pick it for screenshots with small text, since it stays crisp at any zoom. Small compresses the picture and can shrink a 6 MB PDF to a few hundred KB, which is what you want for email. Fit to A4 sizes the page for normal printing and rotates it automatically for wide images; Match the image makes the page exactly the size of the picture, with no margin. Paste several images and use All as one PDF to get one document with a page each.
How to check nothing is uploaded
Don't take our word for it — take 20 seconds and prove it. Press F12 to open developer tools, click the Network tab, then paste an image. The list stays empty: no request goes out, because there is no upload code on the page. The strongest proof of all is to unplug your internet and paste — it still works perfectly, which would be impossible if a server were involved.
Keeping a copy for yourself
Two ways to use it without this website. Install it from your browser menu and it behaves like a normal app in its own window. Or grab the offline version — a single HTML file with everything inside it. Put it on your desktop, a USB stick, or a shared drive; double-click and it runs. Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. There is no server to upload to. Your image is read from the clipboard by your browser, converted on a canvas in your device's memory, and handed straight to your browser's download manager. This page has no upload code in it at all. You can prove it yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and paste an image. You will see zero requests. The page's Content-Security-Policy also blocks it from sending data anywhere, so even a bug or a bad script could not leak your image.
How do I paste a photo and download it on my phone?
Copy an image anywhere on your phone — long-press an image and choose Copy, or copy it from WhatsApp, Instagram, ChatGPT or Google Photos. Then open this page and tap the Paste from clipboard button. Android Chrome will ask for clipboard permission once; tap Allow. The image appears, and tapping Download saves it to your Downloads folder or gallery. If your browser does not support clipboard access, use the Choose image button instead.
Can I paste in one format and download in another?
Yes, that is what the Download as menu is for. Paste a PNG screenshot and download it as JPG, paste a WebP image and save it as PNG, or paste anything and export it as a PDF. The conversion happens on a canvas in your browser, so the pasted format and the downloaded format are completely independent.
Why can't I find my screenshots on my Windows PC?
On many Windows PCs the Print Screen key and Win+Shift+S only copy the screenshot to the clipboard — they never write a file, so there is nothing to find. Win+PrtScn is supposed to save to Pictures\Screenshots, but that breaks if the folder was moved, redirected to OneDrive, or locked down by an office IT policy. Yes. Anything you can copy to your clipboard can be pasted here, including images generated by ChatGPT, photos from Google Photos, and pictures from Instagram, WhatsApp, Slack or Figma. Right-click the image and choose Copy image (not Copy image address, which copies a link instead of the picture). You can also drag an image straight from another browser tab onto the drop zone.
Is there a file size or resolution limit?
There is no limit set by the tool, because nothing is being uploaded — the only real limit is your device's memory. Very large images (above roughly 50 megapixels) may be slow to convert on an older phone, and browsers cap canvas dimensions somewhere around 16,384 pixels per side. Ordinary screenshots and photos are never a problem.
Is it really free, and do I need an account?
It is completely free with no sign-up, no account, no watermark and no limit on how many images you paste. There is nothing to pay for because there are no servers processing your images — all the work is done by the browser you already have.
