Your key stays in this browser and is sent only to the provider you pick, over HTTPS — never to SerpHammer (there is no backend). The page's security policy blocks it from going anywhere else. Use a personal device.

Everything an off-page campaign needs to start

Publishable topic ideas

Not "write about your product" — real, useful topics a third-party blog or resource page would actually publish, each with a built-in, natural reason to link back to your page.

Per-topic anchor text

Every topic comes with its own anchor-text options — branded, partial-match, exact-match and natural phrases — written to fit that specific article and to read in your site's own voice, not one generic list reused everywhere.

Where to pitch each topic

Every idea comes with the kinds of sites and niches it fits — guest-post blogs, resource pages, roundups, communities — so you know where the outreach should go.

Your choice of free AI

Bring your own Gemini or Mistral key — both have free tiers, including free reasoning models. If a model is busy or missing, the tool auto-switches to the next one your key supports.

Reads your page & its voice

Paste a URL and it pulls the page's core keywords and reads its tone and audience, so the topics and anchors come back sounding like you — or paste the text yourself when a site blocks automated access.

Private by design

There is no SerpHammer backend. Your key stays on your device and the AI request goes straight to the provider you chose — we never see, store, or proxy it.

How it works

  1. 1

    Paste the page

Drop in the URL of the page you're trying to rank and connect your Gemini or Mistral key (once per device). Hit Analyze page.

  2. 2

    Review the keywords

The tool extracts the page's core keywords. Add or remove any to steer the ideas, and set an optional brand or target keyword for the anchors.

  3. 3

    Generate & pitch

Get topics — each with its own anchor text in your site's voice and the site types to pitch it to. Copy a single topic, or export the whole plan as a text brief for your outreach.

Tips & detailed help

What makes a good backlink topic

A backlink topic isn't an ad for your page — it's an article a host site wants to publish that also gives a natural place to link back. This tool aims for exactly that: genuinely useful angles (data, how-tos, comparisons, expert roundups) where your page is a logical citation, not a forced plug.

Getting a free Gemini key

Open Google AI Studio → API keys, create a key, and paste it in. The default gemini-2.5-flash is a free reasoning model that thinks before answering — great for idea quality. Click My models to load exactly what your key can call if you ever hit a "model not found".

Using a free Mistral key

Create a key at console.mistral.ai. The default magistral-small-latest is Mistral's open reasoning model on the free tier; mistral-small-latest and open-mistral-nemo are lighter free fallbacks. Not sure what your key covers? Click My models.

Automatic model fallback

Free tiers rate-limit, and model names change. If your chosen model is missing, rate-limited or the server is busy, the tool quietly retries with the next free model your key supports and tells you which one it used — so you rarely have to babysit a run.

Using the per-topic anchor text safely

Each topic ships with anchors written to fit that article and to match how your site writes — so a link reads as a natural mention, not a bolted-on keyword. They're still a pool to rotate: across your whole campaign, lean on branded and natural phrases with only occasional exact-match. Over-using one exact-match phrase across many links is the fastest way to look manipulative — vary them across placements.

When a page won't load

Some sites block automated fetches. The tool tries several public proxies, but if they all fail, click Paste page text instead and drop in the visible text (or a short description). Everything else works the same — and nothing about your page is ever sent to a SerpHammer server.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Topic Suggestion Tool do?

You paste the URL of a page you want to rank (your money page). The tool reads that page — including its writing style and audience — pulls out its core keywords for you to review, and then generates ideas you can act on for off-page SEO: publishable topics for guest posts and outreach, per-topic anchor text written to match your site's voice for linking back to your page, and the kinds of sites or niches to pitch each topic to.

Is it free, and do I need an API key?

The tool itself is free and runs in your browser with no sign-up. The idea generation is done by an AI model, so you bring your own key from one of two providers: Google Gemini or Mistral. Both have free tiers — including free reasoning models (Gemini 2.5 Flash and Mistral's Magistral) — so you can typically run it at no cost.

Where is my API key stored? Is it safe?

Your key never leaves your browser except to go straight to the AI provider you pick, over HTTPS — it is never sent to SerpHammer, because there is no backend. Leave Remember on this device on to store it for next time, or turn it off to keep it only until you close the browser. A show/hide button reveals it and a Forget button wipes it anytime. The page's Content-Security-Policy blocks the key from being sent anywhere other than your chosen provider. Use a personal, trusted device.

Which model does it use, and what if a model fails?

It defaults to a free reasoning model (Gemini 2.5 Flash, or Mistral Magistral Small) and you can pick any model from the dropdown. If the chosen model is missing, rate-limited or the server is busy, the tool automatically falls back to the next free model your key supports and tells you which one it switched to — so a run rarely fails outright. Click My models to load the exact list your key can call.

What if the tool can't read my page?

Some pages block automated access. The tool fetches your page through public read-only proxies and tries several, but if they all fail you can click Paste page text instead, drop in the page's content (or a short description of it), and continue exactly as normal. Nothing about your page is stored on a server.

How should I use the per-topic anchor text?

Each topic comes with its own anchor-text suggestions written to fit that specific article and to read naturally in your site's voice, rather than one generic list reused everywhere. Across your whole campaign you should still rotate them — a natural backlink profile is mostly branded and natural-phrase anchors with only a light touch of exact-match. Treat every topic's anchors as options to vary across placements, not a set to reuse verbatim on every link.

Does it work offline?

The app installs as a PWA and its interface, help and saved plans work offline. Reading a page and generating ideas need an internet connection because they call a proxy and your chosen AI provider. Your saved plans and keys stay on your device.

The story behind this tool

This one came straight from our own agency floor. The person handling off-page activity spent a big chunk of every week hunting for topics — interesting angles they could pitch to other websites and use to link back to whatever page we were trying to push up the rankings. It was slow, manual, and easy to run dry on ideas.

So we built them a tool: paste the page you're trying to rank, and it hands back topics worth pitching. From that prototype we rebuilt it as a proper SerpHammer tool — static, installable and privacy-first, with a bring-your-own-key AI (Gemini or Mistral), automatic model fallback, and an output aimed at real link building: publishable topics, per-topic anchor text written in your own voice, and the kinds of sites to pitch each idea to.
